Can it cost a style during development?
It can. As the BOM is built, the software rolls up material, trim, and estimated make costs into a development cost for the style, so merchandising can compare it against the target price before the style is committed. When the order moves to production, the ERP side reconciles those estimates against actual purchase and CMT costs, closing the loop between what a style was expected to cost and what it actually cost.
Does apparel PLM software work with CAD?
Yes. PLM is not a CAD or 3D design tool and does not try to replace one — it is the system of record around the design work. It stores and versions the artwork, print and pattern files your designers produce in their CAD software, and links them to the style, so the tech pack always references the right file. If you are looking for a drawing or 3D-sampling tool specifically, that is a separate CAD product; PLM is what manages the style, its specs and its lifecycle around those files.
Is it standalone software or part of the ERP?
You can start with PLM alone and add the rest later. Many brands begin with tech packs and sampling to fix the development chaos first, then switch on production, inventory and finance as they grow — all on the same platform, without a migration.
