Frequently asked questions
Common questions about Vastra ERP for garment & apparel.
A garment BOM is not a flat parts list: consumption changes by size, and trims change by colourway. The system models the style once and derives per-size and per-colour consumption from it, so a size-colour order matrix explodes into accurate material requirements without a spreadsheet per style.
Yes. Subcontracted operations are tracked as production stages with their own issue and receipt of materials, so fabric issued to a CMT unit and garments received back are reconciled against expected consumption. That closes the visibility gap that makes subcontractor loss and rework so hard to quantify.
It does, and the distinction is configured per order. Material cost is included in order costing for FOB orders and excluded for CMT, while labour and overhead are allocated on a consistent basis such as standard minute value. Without that separation, shared overhead makes FOB orders look unprofitable and CMT orders look free to run.
Suboptimal cutting commonly wastes 10 to 15 percent of fabric per order. Marker and cut-plan optimisation attacks part of that, but the larger recovery usually comes from ordering the right quantity in the first place, which depends on accurate per-size consumption rather than an averaged figure.
Sample iterations fall when tech packs, comments and approvals live in one versioned record rather than in email threads. Most factories running five or more rounds are re-sampling because a comment was lost or applied to the wrong version, not because the buyer changed their mind five times.
